Single Stream Recycling

The Following Items are No Longer Recyclable:

Plastic Bags, Food Wrap, Cellophane Wrapping/Packaging Etc.

Please exercise "REDUCE and REUSE"  with these products, or place them in your garbage bin. 

This change is due to the Chinese " National Sword " program which has effectively eliminated the market for the above.  Our purchaser, in spite of an extensive search, has not been able to locate any other viable market.

A single stream recycling program is the easiest and most effective way to show your commitment to the environment.  With a single stream program, all recyclable materials can be placed into your blue recycling container together - no more sorting or separating required!

Single stream recycling is made possible by a state - of - the - art Materials Recovery Facility (MRF).  Using cutting edge technology, recyclable materials are sorted through a process of mechanical separation and manned quality control stations.  This efficient system allows for an extremely high rate of recovery - the MRF processes more than 100 tonnes of recycle material per day!

Our trucks employ a sophisticated camera system to monitor your cart contents. Containers containing unacceptable items will be left curbside or rejected from the collection program. 

Please show your commitment to recycling by placing only the listed items in your blue recycling container.

Paper and Cardboard

• Newsprint, flyers, junk mail and envelopes ( with or without windows )
• Magazines, catalogues, paperback books and telephone books
• Cardboard egg cartons ( clean )
• Non-metallic gift wrap and packing paper
• Shredded paper ( please place in clear plastic bag and tie shut )
• Letter quality paper, copier paper and computer printouts
• Brown paper bags 
• Tissue and paper towel cores
• Flattened cardboard and paperboard boxes
• Milk cartons, juice boxes and all Tetra-paks ( rinsed out )

Not Accepted:    waxed or plasticized paper, food contaminated material ( ie: greasy pizza box with cheese stuck on it ), soiled tissues, napkins or paper towels, diapers, confetti paper or heavily dyed/coloured construction paper

Plastics - Marked  Must be Clean and Rinsed Out

• All household plastics must have a numbered arrow symbol in order to be recycled
• Plastic pop and water bottles
• Plastic milk jugs
• Windshield washer jugs
• Yogurt and margarine containers
• Shampoo bottles, spray bottles
• Liquid detergent jugs

Not Accepted:    Styrofoam, Plastic Bags: grocery, retail, dry cleaning, bread bags, plastic toys, Tupperware, plastic pipe, outdoor lawn furniture, containers without a 1 -  7 symbol, used oil containers or biohazardous material

Tin and Aluminum

• Aluminum pop and beer cans
• Aluminum trays, pie plates and foil ( clean and not contaminated with food )
• Household tin cans ( food, beverage, soup, etc. ) - Rinsed out

Not Accepted:    wire hangers, scrap metals, banding, propane tanks, helium tanks, gas cans, auto parts, batteries, hazardous chemical containers

19 Industrial Crescent, Meadow Lake.
